In a time when the world is becoming increasingly disillusioned, grappling with the painful realities and uncertainties stemming from the fallout of the pandemic, inexplicable mass shootings, wars, inflation, poverty, homelessness and societal disconnectedness, Benton Thompson, III, a global speaker, author and missionary, seeks to bring some calmness and clarity from a biblical and spiritual perspective to those seeking answers.

Thompson is an Atlanta, GA-based published author of 10 books, including his popular five-part “How To” series, where Thompson instructs readers on “How to Hear God,” (which is also available in Spanish) “How to Trust God,” “How to Follow God,” “How to Obey God,” and “How to Pray to God.”  Also available in audio formats, these works are short, simple, easy to follow along guides to help with self-growth. Thompson is also the producer of “Thompson Truths,” which shares weekly devotionals via podcast format, designed as a safe place for seekers to be inspired, enlightened and find hope.

“My ultimate goal and purpose is to share God in a practical manner and help those who have questions about God, to have a very practical and personal relationship with God, so that they too can know him as Abba, Father,” says, Thompson. “My books, devotionals and Thompson Truths Podcasts, are designed in brief anecdotal formats for busy people seeking answers, to get what they need,” shared Thompson. “I am excited about the new devotional study just released in early July, being on the YouVersion bible App because of the opportunity for so many people from various countries to be able to access it, learn from and be comforted by what’s shared,” he said.

Thompson recently released a timely devotional study on grief and sorrow entitled, “Jesus Carried Our Sorrows to Victory,” on the popular YouVersion Bible App, can be accessed by millions of subscribers. Thompson’s “Jesus Carried Our Sorrows to Victory,” study helps subscribers gain insight into why Jesus was referred to as a “man of sorrows and grief,” by the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 53, and how that has resulted in the ultimate victory of mankind overall.

The YouVersion Bible app, which has over 500 million subscribers,  gives people access to about 3,000 bible versions, translated into nearly 2,000 languages. The platform offers free reading plans and devotionals to help people engage with God’s word every day, a little at a time.

Much of what Thompson shares comes lessons and wisdom learned from his father who was a pastor, as well as his own personal challenges.

“The bible says there is nothing new under the sun,” says Thompson. “Knowledge is what you hopefully gain from going through a thing, and wisdom is what you gain from listening to someone else’s experiences,” he continued. “Each of us are uniquely different, but we all have similar experiences and people’s time is so demanding, that my three to five-minute audio sermonettes/anecdotes shared on Thompson Truths, are some spiritual nuggets, that are hopefully helping people to hear and connect with God, by understanding the difference between their mind, body and spirit.”

Thompson says his goal through his body of work, is to take the mysteriousness and complication out of religion and spirituality and make it easier for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the bible, God’s purpose and plan, as well as their own individual relationship to Him, and how to simply apply empowering biblical truths to their lives.

Over the years, Thompson has served as a pastor, started a men’s homeless shelter in metro-Atlanta, has preached and done missionary work in Belize, The Philippines, India, Israel, etc., and served as a chaplain at the oldest orphanage for African Americans in the country. Currently, his messages are heard in nearly 40 countries, and he is excited about the potential of his devotional on the YouVersion bible app and the more than 100 messages found on the Thompson Truths podcast, to make a difference in the lives of those seeking answers to spiritual questions around the world.

“By sharing God’s word in a practical, easy to understand manner through Thompson Truths, will not only help those who seeking, to learn how to apply God’s word to their own lives, but I also believe the “Jesus Carried Our Sorrows to Victory” devotional study, will touch and positively impact many around the world experiencing grief and sorrow in these very challenging times.
