Every day for Dr. Rodney E. Williams, the Pastor of King Solomon Baptist Church is never the same. In general, his day begins with prayer and meditation. He then studies the passages of scripture the Lord lays on his heart to preach for the next service. Afterwards both he and his dog Keeto go for their morning walk. On any given day, Dr. Williams is either at his office or visiting the sick- or downtrodden. Sometimes, he will go to court with mothers and fathers who have children in trouble or if they are in trouble themselves. “Honestly, my day is never the same, but it is always busy.”
Dr. Williams is also a seven-time author, anointed musician, singer, and hosts a radio broadcast called “Kingdom Principles,” heard weekly on two different stations worldwide. His passion is Jesus Christ- to preach the gospel and empower generations through inspiration and information. He desires to give all who want to receive the Word of God, the Word simplified and anointed. “I want to build new houses of worship that are technologically advanced so that the generation coming will be equipped for the generation behind them.”
“The mission of King Solomon Baptist Church is to transform every individual who walks through the doors into a disciple of Jesus Christ, thus transforming the world into kingdom citizens on earth, so that the transition from earth to heaven will be seamless.” Dr. Williams continues, “Our mission includes the whole man- mind, body, and soul. The mind is the battlefield, the body is the vehicle for each human being to carry out their earthly mission, and the soul is the spiritual information center. Wherefore God transfers and transforms each individual into a New Creature through the methodology I just mentioned. This is our mission, and it is also God’s mandate.”
One of the primary things Dr. Williams finds most rewarding as a Pastor is to see people saved, delivered and set free from satan’s power. “I love seeing people restored to a place of productivity. That is what keeps me going.” Something else Dr. Williams finds rewarding is that he pastors four of his five siblings. He shares that as an 11-year-old boy, God revealed to him that he baptized his second oldest brother. “In the dream, I had a beard on my face. Twenty-three years later, I baptized my brother, and he serves the Lord even to this day.” Dr. Williams is motivated by the Holy Spirit and marvels at the amazing things that God has done for him. “The new levels and new doors that God has opened for me reveal that there is something more. Each level motivates me to go to the next one.”
Today’s Purpose Man: What are some challenges you’ve faced as a Pastor, and how did you overcome them?
Some of the challenges I have faced as a pastor are the same as those I preach to; watching your plans sometimes stifled by the actions of others and having to regroup and take another approach. The challenge of keeping the church relevant in this age and causing it to be the church God is calling for in these last and evil days. Having the same family issues in your own family as those who sit in the congregation. Yet having to press on despite of those issues and challenges. We are not outside of the preaching we do to others, nor are we isolated from the same troubles they deal with. However, I overcame my issues through prayer while operating precepts and principles. This means, the same medicine I give to those I preach to, I must also take myself.
Many are experiencing turbulent times due to the pandemic and the current economy. What is the one thing you want the body of Christ to know and understand regarding today’s economic uncertainty?
This too shall pass. The Church has never depended upon the world nor its system to be fed. We are connected to our source through a system. Yet the earthly system doesn’t have the power to sustain us, that’s why we see what we see dealing with the economy. David said, I’ve been young and now I’m old, yet I’ve never seen the righteous forsaken nor its seed begging for bread. The economical situation we see is doing nothing but making us realize the difference between our source and our job.
There are many issues that men face in today’s society. What are your thoughts and advice on some of the problems faced?
First, men are being squeezed by an unjust system. The system is extracting and expecting more from men than the system is imparting and giving to them. My advice to every man is to draw water from your own well. In other words, create a legal reachable source and system that works for you. That includes having a hustle! Encourage yourself, educate yourself and compliment yourself. If you do this, you learn to win; even if you are your only cheerleader.
Second, men aren’t respected enough in their communities, homes and churches. There must be a restoration of respect from those around us in order for us to take our rightful place. Society is out of step when it comes to the role of man in the structure of creation. So in order for the realignment to occur, men have to learn to respect men, until the world and those around us get the message.
Thirdly, men must realize that we had God before we had anyone in the original creation. Therefore, we functioned with God alone. To lead, you have to know where you are going. I say that because men have to stay connected to God at all times. To call our children back to God and restore our families, we have to reconnect to God ourselves. Therefore, we must have a relationship with God, but we have to maintain fellowship with God in order to have a relationship with God.
You’ve authored several books. Can you give us a snippet of your latest ones?
Betrayed To Bless
“You Don’t Have To Kill Judas, He’s Going To Kill Himself”. Jesus was betrayed by Judas but He knew he would betray Him. Yet He called him friend. Many times we spend time trying to repay those who display to us such behavior as Judas displayed. Jesus said to Judas, whatever thou do, do it quickly. Judas betrayed Christ and he ended up killing himself. People who have purpose should never spend their time trying to repay someone for what they have done to them. Just like Judas, they will destroy themselves while trying to kill others.
My latest work -Anointed Lies
“You Are In The Womb Of Your Purpose Not A Pit”
When God finishes using those who are trying to use you, you will see purpose and not people. The ministry of purpose is bigger than anything or anybody. It is the very reason you survived things that would have killed others.
The definition for womb is the organ in the lower body of a female, where offspring are conceived and which they gestate before birth. The place where an unborn fetus develops and grows.
A pit is a low place, it is the same place where Joseph’s brothers placed him. Like a baby from the low place, he was birthed into his destiny. So many people have been pushed into their destiny by a friendly hand with treacherous intentions.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
I thank you for allowing me the opportunity and the chance to appear in your magazine and share part of my story. Notice I said part of my story. (Laughing) I want to say to those who might be struggling with life and all that comes with it. Don’t give your chance away. Your chance to be a light in a dark place. Your chance to help someone be better tomorrow than they are today. Your chance to help a child who doesn’t have a father be someone in society. Regardless of the pain, the problem, or the persecution- don’t give your chance away. Your chance might be your only opportunity to bring change for you and your family…….
Blessings….
